Purpose

An Occupant licence to cut (OLTC) is a relatively small forest tenure that allows harvesting in a specific area over a relatively short period of time. An OLTC is not a replaceable tenure because it is not intended to provide a forest company with an ongoing supply of timber. An OLTC is also not intended to be used like a timber sale licence to provide an ongoing stream of competitive timber harvesting opportunities. An OLTC can grant harvesting rights for a number of purposes that cannot be addressed by larger licences or the timber sale licence program.
