About FrontCounter BC

FrontCounter BC simplifies the process for individuals or small-to-medium-sized natural resource businesses starting up or already operating.

FrontCounter BC staff will:

• Guide clients through required permitting and licensing forms.
• Help clients complete strong application packages.
• Interpret land information, maps, management plans.
• Follow-up and track the status of applications filed.
• Liaise between ministries, agencies, and governments.
• Begin referral processes with First Nations.
• Help identify and market economic development opportunities.

Virtual FrontCounter BC

Virtual FrontCounter BC gives clients the ability to apply on-line for authorizations. You can update the application you are working on, attach maps and documents to your application, submit and pay for your application and track your online applications.

Permitting and Licensing Forms

The application catalogue provides a comprehensive, searchable database of forms and information for natural resource sector permits and authorizations available from the provincial government.

The Application Assistant provides answers to questions and information needed to fill out the online application. You will always have the option to contact a FrontCounter BC representative.

Discovery Tool

The FrontCounter BC Discovery Tool is designed to help clients view an area of land within the Province of British Columbia. It provides basic information on how the land is currently being used and how it is used relative to your proposed application area. For example, lands that are privately held or designated as a Provincial Park, National Park or First Nations Reserve are highly constrained in their potential for Crown authorizations and will require a call to FrontCounter BC staff to determine whether the proposed activity is permissible. Avoiding these areas when seeking potential candidate areas for your proposed application may improve your likelihood of success.

Once you have determined your application area, the tool allows you to create an electronic file of your Area of Interest that can be submitted with your electronic application.
